it's ok to be ok, even if everything is not fine.

Join BJ Miller, palliative care physician, and Howard Spierer for an informal and interactive conversation on how to think about disability and chronic illness.

There is no right way to “do” disability or chronic illness.  The important thing is to understand what matters to you, and own it, so you can thrive living with what is rather than struggling to reclaim what used to be. Acceptance is like any other muscle — you need to work with it to develop it each and every day; and as with most muscles if you push too hard you run the risk of an injury.  Everything has pluses and minuses so it is helpful to look at things holistically and make your decisions based on what you want in an unhurried fashion; rather than what other people think you should have or want.

All online discussions begins with a basic overview of the day’s topic before opening up to the group for Q&A and conversation. This session should feel as supportive as it does educational, so bring your questions and comments, or feel free to just listen. Together, we’ll explore real life examples and address your questions on the topic.

Discussions are held online and once registered, you will receive a link via email to join on video or by phone.

If you can't make it to the live session you will receive a recording.
