Talking with Doctors

What questions should you ask your clinical team to ensure you get the care you want? Is it ok to say “no” to treatment? How much, or how little do you want to know? And how to discuss important decisions with loved ones, whether or not they agree with your choices.

As with the rest of life, navigating illness, from any angle, is so much about communicationwith yourself, and with family, friends, professional caregivers, and medical teams. Listening well and ensuring that you’re making yourself heard and understood takes guidance, practice, and empathy.

Speak with a Mettle Health counselor to discuss interactions with your doctor, what questions to ask to get the information you need to make choices for yourself or someone you’re caring for or just get more information on what’s going on behind the scenes in a medical setting to better understand your clinical team and what to expect.
