Why we created Mettle Health

*Important Note: This post contains photos that some may consider sensitive, we just want to call that out before you proceed*

We love a historical look back! Always fascinating to find out the history of an idea, or tradition and see how differently it was regarded decades ago (lobsters as prison food anyone?🦞)

So with that in mind, we present: a Victorian era death tradition where photographs were taken of deceased loved ones for the family to have during their grieving process. Photography was an exciting new thing, but not always affordable, so in some cases this photograph might be the only one they had of the person! (Can you IMAGINE?!)

Much like we display family photos in our homes today, these were included! How much less scary might death be if you passed a photo of your deceased grandpa on the way down the stairs to breakfast every morning?
