Understanding how other aspects of traditional healthcare work

On top of just wanting to educate and elucidate on themes relating to navigating illness like grief, difficult emotions, family relationships and communication, we also want to make sure that people understand how other aspects of traditional healthcare work - there’s a huge chance you may find yourself, or something you care for, in the ER, or ICU and being armed with some information on how these places operate can really help you in a moment of crisis.

Our conversation with Deven Kothari, MD was a great glimpse into working in an ICU: what to expect, how the different roles interact with each-other. And he also gave voice to an important reminder: doctors grieve too and are also sad when treatments don’t work for their patients. You may not see this, but it’s a reality they are living with.
