Navigating health issues

When a diagnosis enters the picture, it can start to change the original relationship status for the newly minted “patient” and “caregiver”. Moving from lover to nurse, or daughter to mother, or friend to schedule manager is harder to deal with than it might sound on paper. A relationship that has revolved around a certain set of knowns and experiences is now up-ended, creating opportunities for the relationship to change in new ways, but we also end up mourning what we no longer have.
