It’s perfectly healthy to pursue a sex life while dealing with an illness

Did you know….

…that it’s perfectly healthy to pursue a sex life while dealing with an illness?

It’s true! (we get that most of you are thinking, "well of course I CAN", but this is more about PERMISSION)

When we get a scary diagnosis or have a chronic ongoing illness, it can feel like much of what makes us human - sexuality in this case - goes right out the window. This is just one way we die a little bit before we need to. While you may lose body parts, or are in pain, there may still be parts of you where touch feels good. It may be more of an exercise in finding NEW ways to connect romantically and sexually with your partner instead of trying to replicate how you used to connect.

And here’s an important note: intercourse in the traditional sense is not all that we mean by “sex". There are many ways to explore a body that are pleasurable and we encourage you to talk about what’s safe with your doctor - yes, you will have to be the one to bring this up! - and try them with a trusted and loving partner.
