Illness

Illness is not “owned” by the healthcare system or medicine.

Illness is social, it’s cultural, it’s personal, it’s emotional, it’s practical, it’s existential. It’s wrapped up in our relationships, and our expectations and hope, all things the healthcare system wasn’t set up to support, but that need tending to so we can feel seen as a whole person.
