You Can Go Off Hospice Care

Did you know…
…you can go off hospice care after enrolling?

It’s true! There are 2 ways people can stop receiving hospice care:

1. “Discharge”. This means the person’s health improved enough that they are no longer eligible for hospice and the hospice discharges them from service. (It happens all the time)

2. “Revocation”. This means the person, or the healthcare proxy, decides to not receive hospice care anymore. This choice can be made at any time and is up to the person or the family.

In both cases, the person can always come back onto hospice care! Many people don’t know this about hospice, and we think the more we all know about these resources and how they work, the better equipped we are to make decisions for ourselves or someone we’re caring for.
