National HIV Testing Day
On the theme of human suffering that goes un-discussed, not knowing your medical status is it’s own special brand of torment. This might be because hell, it’s scary to go to a medical building and get tested for an illness or a disease and so we keep putting it off. But putting it off means we’re in a state of limbo where we can’t make a plan for the future because we don’t have an accurate idea of our present.
Whatever scary thing you may have to get tested for, we urge you to do it in good time, you’ll have the knowledge you need to make the best choices for you, no matter what sitaution you’re dealing with. This is in no way to say that once you have an answer, things get better, sometimes they get harder, but at least not-knowing is no longer part of the suffering.
Today is National HIV Testing Day, and knowing your status helps you get linked to care and treatment. We believe, that in general, knowing more, helps makes things better, not worse - so we encourage everyone to know as much about their bodies and themselves as they can.
