National Family Caregivers Month

While every day, is a day in which we should celebrate and support family caregivers, this month is National Family Caregivers Month so of course we have to do an extra shout out and dose of love for anyone taking care of someone else! Might be a relative, might be a friend, might be a neighbor. All of you are doing some truly hard + rewarding + exhausting + important + draining + beautiful work. We could go on with the adjectives, but you get the point.

To all the current caregivers, we know it doesn’t feel like it, but there are people out here who are thinking of you and wanting more support for the work you do. To everyone who was a caregiver yesterday, or last week, or last month, but is no longer labeled a “caregiver” due to a loss, we’re thinking of you too.

Now for some homework: do you know anyone who is, or was, taking care of someone else ? Give them a call or text them and just tell them their work is seen, and their efforts are appreciated, trust us, it means a lot.

Not all caregivers are in a situation where the person they’re tending to shows appreciation or love for their care, so even more important for those working in relative isolation to get some love and attention; hopefully not just this month, but any time the mood may strike you.

And for extra credit: send that caregiver a card, or a bacon subscription! Showing others we appreciate what they’re doing is a small effort, but has a big impact.

If you are a caregiver and have received some appreciation, we’d love to hear about it, and for those of you loving on your caregiver friends and family, tell us the ways you’ve celebrated them.
