Different facets and points of view

This is another discussion that made us realize HOW MUCH BIGGER we need to go with these conversations: not that the topic needs to expand, but the different facets and points of view that need to validated and discussed.

It’s not just caregivers who experience family discord, it’s also the patient. How does it feel from each perspective? What kind of family discord do caregivers feel they take on and deal with in comparison to the patient?

But the bigger over-arching theme here is relationships; we bring so much to each relationship, and it’s supercharged when dealing with illness, or end of life or grief. We bring our life history - even more fraught in families! - our opinions, our experiences, and under pressure many different things can happen: we may feel the stress and lash out, or we may come closer together, and we may do both!

A lot of what we heard in this session was around navigating the dynamics when multiple family members are helping to take care of someone in the family. We hope there are moments of help in here, and moments that make you think differently about situations you’ve found yourself in.
