Caregiving is absolutely a job and needs to be compensated as such.

We read a recent article from the Washington Post on female caregivers taking care of paralyzed partners and it got us thinking about expectations, support and the place of females as caregivers in our society. One thing that many people don’t realize is that some states DO have programs that pay for spousal caregiving, and that’s an important PSA.

We can’t promise that the bureaucracy of signing up for and receiving said payments will be remotely enjoyable, easy or straightforward, but think it’s important this information be shared in case those that need it can access it.

In the meantime: feel free to harass your government elected officials to make this type of payment program available everywhere in the US. Caregiving is absolutely a job and needs to be compensated as such.
